Coach Chris McNamee and his Pikeville Panthers will open the 2015 season on the road against the Prestonsburg Blackcats Friday August 21.
Pikeville lost key players on both sides of the ball. Cody Estep, Ben Maynard and Austin Charles are three players that the Panthers will miss on offense this season. Pikeville has plenty of players to step up. Running back Daric Pugh returns for his senior season after having a career season last year.
Junior Cody Dials and sophomore Wyatt Battaile are battling for the starting quarterback job and they should have plenty of receivers to throw to.
Receiver Chatlin Jarrell (transferred from Prestonsburg) is a huge pickup for the Panthers. Clay Slone, Andrew McNamee and Cody Charles will also be key receivers for the Panthers.
Defensively Pikeville should be pretty strong. Key players returning are Blake Charles, Logan Coleman, Austin Salyer, Tanner Roop and Clay Slone.
Key players lost are Cody Estep and Ben Maynard.
