RICHMOND, Ky. – Former Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball player Glenn Cosey concluded his first professional season on May 22, playing in France for Evreux in the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB) Pro B.
Cosey averaged 16.3 points per game, which tied for the third most in the 18-team Pro B division. He was seventh in the division with an average of 4.1 assists per game.
The Flint, Michigan native led his team in scoring, assists, three-pointers (91) and free throws (147). He shot 41 percent from the field, knocked down 39 percent of his three-pointers and connected on 82 percent of his attempts from the charity stripe.
“I had a great rookie season,” said Cosey. “I finished third in the league in scoring and seventh in assists. I started off slow at first because it’s a different style of basketball over there, so I had to adjust. Once I adjusted I was ready for whatever came my way.”
Cosey scored 10 or more points in 29 of the team’s 34 games. He dished out five or more assists 15 times. The 6-foot guard hit eight 3-pointers and scored a season-best 31 points against Maurienne on Jan. 23. He had 30 points and six assists against Le Portel on May 5. Evreux, located in northern France, has a population of over 50,000 and is about 60 miles northwest of Paris.
“France is a beautiful place to be,” Cosey said. “I enjoyed only being an hour away from Paris. The big differences that made me realize that I was in a different country was the food and the time difference. I’m a very picky eater, so it was hard at first but I made it through.”
Cosey helped the Colonels (24-10) capture the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship and earn the program’s eighth NCAA Tournament bid in 2014. He was named to the 2013-14 Lou Henson All-America team, chosen first team All-OVC and first team NABC All-District.
Cosey averaged 18.7 points, 4.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game with the Colonels in 2013-14.
