PIKEVILLE, Ky. – It was a record-breaking season for the University of Pikeville men’s basketball team and there may not have been a better team moment than the Bears’ entire starting five being named All Mid-South Conference which comes in at No. 7 in our list of 2013-14 accomplishments.
On the eve of the MSC Tournament in Lebanon, Tenn., which UPIKE would go on to win, league officials announced that Bruce Reed, Chris Cantino, Keala King and Elisha Justice were First Team All-MSC selections, while Josh Whitaker was selected to the second team.
It’s also worth noting that Reed was also named the conference’s top player and Whitaker also earned Academic All-MSC honors for obtaining at least a 3.25 GPA.
UPIKE was ranked second in the nation before the tournament and ended up beating Georgetown (Ky.) in the finals by a 25-point margin.
