PIKEVILLE, Ky. — University of Pikeville senior men’s basketball player Kenny Manigault was named to the NAIA Division I All-Star Team, national office officials announced on Thursday.
This is the second year the NAIA has put on an all-star game which pits 10 student-athletes from NAIA Div. I against 10 from the Division II level.
The event is part of a night which also includes a 3-point shootout and dunk contest, presented by US Bank at 9 p.m. ET on March 21 in Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
Manigault is the third Bear to be named an all-star, joining seniors Keala King and Bruce Reed from the 2013-14 season.
Although being named to the team is a high honor, Manigault will hope he’s not playing in the game as those still playing on teams in the NAIA quarterfinals will not be eligible.
In order to field a team of 10-players, the NAIA selects five players from teams not at the national tournament, along with 12 finalists from teams in the field.
Manigault is one of two finalists from the Mid-South Conference, including Campbellsville’s 6-10 center Damontre Harris.
