MOREHEAD, Ky. — The Morehead State men’s basketball team continues Ohio Valley Conference play on Thursday when it hosts SIU Edwardsville. Tip-off from Johnson Arena is set for approximately 7:30 p.m. ET. The contest will follow the Eagles and Cougars in women’s basketball at 5:15 p.m.
The East Division Eagles, who split a pair of OVC road games last week, are 6-12 overall, 1-2 in league action and 2-4 at home. The West Division Cougars, who also split two OVC contests last week, are 7-8 overall, 3-1 in conference play and 0-6 on the road. SIUE has won six of its last seven tilts.
Morehead State owns a 5-1 all-time advantage against SIU Edwardsville in men’s basketball. The Eagles have won the last three meetings with the Cougars, including a 70-63 decision last year at the Vadalabene Center. Angelo Warner tallied a game-high 17 points and six rebounds for MSU that night.

TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK
Morehead State limited itself to just eight turnovers in 45 minutes at UT Martin. The Eagles had previously committed double-figure miscues in 16 consecutive games. MSU’s best 2014-15 performance was six turnovers in the season opener at UNLV.
KNOCKING DOWN THE FREEBIES
Morehead State converted on 92 percent (11-of-12) of its free-throw attempts at UT Martin. The effort was its second best of the campaign. The Eagles drilled all 10 of their charity tosses on Nov. 21 at Louisiana Tech, but still suffered a 73-64 setback.
REBOUNDING IS WHAT WE DO
Morehead State has led the Ohio Valley Conference in rebounding margin six straight seasons (2008-14), paced the league in rebounds five of the last six years and had the conference’s top individual four of the past six seasons. MSU ranks second in the OVC in both rebounding margin (+4.2) and boards per game (36.5).
A CAREER NIGHT FOR KAREEM
Senior Kareem Storey scored 10 straight points for Morehead State in the first half on Saturday at UT Martin en route to a career-high 22. The guard knocked down 9-of-13 from the field. He also recorded three assists and three steals in 43 minutes.
WHEN I PASS, YOU SHOULD SCORE
Kareem Storey places fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 4.7 assists per contest and seventh with 1.7 assists-per-turnover. The guard has registered five assists in 22 of 47 games at Morehead State. He is averaging 7.9 points this season on 82 percent (32-of-39) from the foul line.
THE ONLY FOURTH-YEAR PLAYER
Senior Angelo Warner, the only fourth-year player at Morehead State, has tallied 1,345 points (11.8 pg) and 3,148 minutes (27.6 pg) in 114 collegiate games. The guard has reached 10 points 72 times and 20 points on 15 occasions. He needs more 38 points to move into 16th in school history.
THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE BOYS
Seniors Karam Mashour and Billy Reader tallied their first Division I double-doubles on Jan. 8 at Southeast Missouri. Mashour connected on 7-of-14 from the field en route to career highs of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Reader knocked down 6-of-13 from the floor on his way to 12 points and a career-best 11 rebounds.
DOING IT SHORT-HANDED
Morehead State posted a 70-57 win at Southeast Missouri, despite using just eight players (and dressing only 10). Angelo Warner, senior Jalen Courtney, junior Lyonell Gaines and freshman Marquel Willis all missed the game due to injury.
A REALLY GRUELING SLATE
Morehead State traveled 12,355 miles (9,835 via plane and 2,520 via bus) and played in eight states during the non-conference portion of its 2014-15 schedule. Eight of MSU’s first 15 contests were on the road, while two others were on a neutral floor.
A STREAK TO BE PROUD OF
Morehead State has finished Ohio Valley Conference play .500-or-better in each of the last seven seasons. MSU’s last sub-.500 OVC campaign came in 2006-07. The Eagles own a 19-16 record (.543) in league contests under Head Coach Sean Woods
