BOSTON – Eastern Kentucky University’s Corey Walden was chosen as a Lou Henson Preseason All-American by CollegeInsider.com, the site announced last week. Walden was the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and OVC Tournament MVP.
Members of the Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team are candidates for the Lou Henson Award, which is presented annually to the Division I “Mid-Major” Player of the Year. The award will be given April 3 at a banquet in Indianapolis.
The senior has already been recognized with Preseason All-OVC honors and was chosen to the five-member Sporting News Preseason All-OVC Team. Lindy’s Sports labeled Walden as the “Best Defender” in the OVC.
Last season, Walden averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
In three OVC Tournament games the Daytona Beach, Florida native averaged 23.3 points, 3.7 steals, 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He made 66 percent of his shots from the field and 91 percent at the stripe. He scored a career-best 29 points in the championship game against Belmont.
