It was up and down and run and gun as the Eastern Kentucky Colonels improved their record to 4-1 with a 110-97 win over the Longwood Lancers.
Jarelle Reischel’s 37 points and Javontae Hawkins’ 26 was too much for Longwood’s big man Lotanna Nwogbo (26 pts and 7 rebounds) and Tra’vaughn White (21 pts).
Here is just a taste of what Nwogbo could do on the offensive end.
Eastern’s Javonae Hawkins was not to be outdone.
EKU was actually down 43-42 at the half. Take a look:
The Colonels battled back though, shooting 81% from the field, finishing at a torrid 40-60 from the field for a blazing 66.7%
Eastern Kentucky head coach Dan McHale would have liked to have played better defense, but was happy with his team’s 3rd win in 3 games.
The Colonels will be back in action Wednesday afternoon at 2pm as they host Thomas More.
Scott’s Notes
One of the reasons I decided to watch EKU and Longwood today was because one of my good friends is an assistant for the Lancers.
Former Kentucky/Marshall player Adam Williams is a first year assistant for the Lancers.
Look for Adam to be a college head coach one of these days.
Also, one play stuck out to me during that game that I am sure wasn’t a highlight for Longwood’s Khris Lane.
It is my candidate for the Sportscenter #NotTop10:
Hope to see you in a gym soon!
