DePaul is reportedly focused on hiring Kenny Payne as the school’s next basketball coach.
According to the Chicago Tribune:
DePaul is zeroing in on New York Knicks assistant coach and former Kentucky associate head coach Kenny Payne as its next men’s basketball coach, a source confirmed to the Tribune.
Stadium’s Jeff Goodman first reported last week that Payne would interview for the opening to replace Dave Leitao, who was fired March 15.
DePaul athletic director DeWayne Peevy worked closely with Payne at Kentucky, where Peevy spent 12 years, including seven as deputy athletic director. Payne was an assistant coach and later associate head coach under John Calipari from 2010 to 2020.
