For the first time in the school’s history, Western Kentucky University Football is ranked in the Top 25 by The Associated Press.
The Hilltoppers (11-2) beat Southern Mississippi 45-28 on Saturday for the Conference USA championship – their fifth straight win and 12th straight victory against league competition. They came in at No. 25 in the latest poll released Sunday.
The ranking is the first for WKU, a program which transitioned from I-AA to I-A football in 2007 and 2008 and began playing a full-time schedule at the highest level in 2009.
Congratulations to the Hilltoppers. Now the top ranked team in the state of Kentucky.
