RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s basketball team looks to extend its winning streak when the Cincinnati Christian University Eagles come to Richmond on Thursday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at McBrayer Arena.
After dropping the first game of the season, EKU has won three straight including two 20-plus-point margins of victory in its two home contests.
Bolstered by a second double-double in as many games from junior Jalen O’Bannon, the Colonels picked up their third win in a row with Friday’s 64-41 win over East Tennessee State. O’Bannon is averaging a double-double on the season with 15 points-per-game and 11.3 rebounds-per-game. She has also won two consecutive Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week awards and was named College Sports Madness OVC Player of the Week on Monday.
Senior Shameekia “Polly” Murray set her career-high with 25 points in a 77-72 overtime win at Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 24. Murray leads the Colonels in scoring with 17.3 points-per-game, while pulling down 6.0 rebounds-per-game.
Michaela Hunter ranks ninth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 56.3 percent. The junior is also tallying 15.5 points-per-game and 4.8 assists-per-game. Both Hunter and Murray were named to the preseason All-OVC team.
Cincinnati Christian University (1-7, 0-0 KIAC) is led by freshman Baylee Bennett’s 12.9 points-per-game.
