MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State seniors Justin Cornwall and Luke Keller have been tabbed Pioneer Football League Players of the Week.
Cornwall, a slot receiver, was selected the league’s Offensive Player of the Week officially and by College Sports Madness. Keller, a linebacker, is the official Defensive Player of the Week.
A Cincinnati native, Cornwall recorded his third straight 100-yard game and fourth of the year with 134 yards in the triple overtime victory over Drake Saturday. Cornwall tied the school-record with three touchdown catches and now has a league-best 11 scores through the air in 2015. He also added 70 return yards and had 226 all-purpose yards. Cornwall scored the go-ahead touchdown in the second overtime period on a 25-yard pass from QB Jack Sherry.
From Lucasville, Ohio, Keller erupted for 14 total tackles, a season-high, and tallied a career-best 4.5 tackles for loss. Among those stops in the backfield was two sacks. He also broke up a pass as the Eagles defeated Drake for the first time 2007.
The Eagles host Dayton Saturday at 1 p.m. ET in a matchup of the PFL’s top-ranked programs this year. Dayton is 5-0 in the conference, while the Eagles are 4-1.
