Coach Cal is as good as it gets when it comes to being an open book, and just when you think you know all there is to know about John Calipari, a new side emerges.
Coach Cal had this to say about being a momma’s boy.
“Any Italian will know, I was her son, her son. They say it twice, ‘my son my son.’ I was the only son in the family and so I was close to my mom. I was the original momma’s boy. But the biggest thing was, she was a dreamer. She thought I could be President of the United States. She was convinced, ‘I don’t care, you can do whatever you want. There is no one who can hold you back.’ She used to say because we grew up poor, ‘these surroundings should not hold you back. Dream beyond this. None of this has any effect on where you are going in the future unless you let it.'”
So it comes easy for Cal to push his players into dreaming big, because that is what Cal’s mother did for him.
