The Murray State women’s golf team finished first round play at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate with a spot in fifth place at the event in Clarksville, Tenn.
The Racers fired a 322 in round one and trailed fourth place Belmont by three shots at Clarksville Country Club.
Anna Moore led the MSU effort with a spot in eighth place with a 77, while Sydney Trimble was in 19th place with a 79. Sophie Hillier and Moa Folke each carded an 83 and shared 32nd place. Abbi Stamper had a spot in 37th place with an 85.
Jane Watts led all Murray State players with a round of 76 which led to a spot in fifth place in the field of 49 players. Watts is playing the event as an individual for the Racers.
Lipscomb carries the lead into the final round after a score of 305. Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay shared third place at 313. After Belmont (319) and the Racers (322), the rest of the field includes USC Upstate (323), Cumberland (333) and Tennessee State (339).
The par-72 Clarksville CC layout plays 5,973 yards.
The final round is set for Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
