Scotty McCoy is back, returning for his 3rd season as head coach of the Magoffin County Hornets, and he’s bought some success to the school with him boasting an overall record of 13 wins & 10 losses.
Last year McCoy lead Magoffin County to a Class 3A District 7 championship and a #1 seed in the playoffs, defeating Sheldon Clark by the score of 34-26, but unfortunately dropped their next game to the Lawrence County Bulldogs in a close one 28-21.
Magoffin County loses 10 seniors from last season’s squad, notable departees include QB Dalton Keeton, WR Devan Ables & DL Josh Poe.
Some key players returning to the team include, RB #40 Gareth Gray, RB #23 Dalton Peters & LB #55 Ethan Minix.
Magoffin County will kick-off their season traveling to Leslie County to battle the Eagles on Friday, August 21st 2015.
