Morehead State Summer Baseball Update: Trio Named to All-Star Teams

MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State baseball players have enjoyed success with their summer league clubs this year, including a trio who have been selected to their respective league’s All-Star Teams.

Junior right-handed pitcher Tyler Keele and sophomore righty Luke Humphreys, who both play for the Florence (S.C.) RedWolves, were selected to the Coastal Plain League West Division All-Star Team. The game will take place on Monday, July 13 in Florence.

Junior right-hander Matt Anderson, who is on the West Virginia Miners’ roster based in Beckley, was selected to the Prospect League East Division All-Star Team. The game will be on Wednesday in Richmond, Ind.

Keele leads the CPL with five saves. In eight games for the 16-16 RedWolves, Keele sports a 1.74 ERA with 23 strikeouts in only 10 innings. Humphreys is 2-1 with a 1.61 ERA in 22 innings. He has 28 strikeouts, and opponents have managed to hit only .101 off him in the first half of the campaign.



Anderson is 4-0 with a 1.05 ERA and a league-best 42 strikeouts in 34 innings for the Miners.

Right-handed pitchers Patrick McGuff, a junior, and freshman Aaron Leasher have combined for a 7-0 mark for the Bend (Ore.) Elks in the West Coast League. McGuff is 4-0 with a 2.12 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 29 innings. Leasher is 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 18 punchouts in 21 innings.
