Robinson Creek-The Shelby Valley Wildcats defeated the Pikeville Panthers 59-43 on Tuesday night. Shelby Valley relied on sharp shooting from the three point line. Dalton Richardson hit 6-7 shots from the 3 point line. Richardson finished with 22 points. Hunter Swindell also dropped in 21 points.
The Panthers had a tough showing in the first half, but Shelby Valley went on a 10-2 run to start the 3rd quarter. The Panthers never recovered, falling 20 points down for most of the rest of the game. Pikeville was led in scoring by Zach Huffman, who had 18 points. The Panthers were bothered by Shelby Valley’s zone defense and did not shoot well from the outside, which is not typical of the physical Panther style of basketball.
Pikeville and Shelby Valley both have to play East Ridge to finish out the seedings for the district tournament. They both have lost a game to East Ridge. All three teams are in the race for the number 1 seed and next weeks games will determine who is seeded where.
