MOREHEAD, Ky. – Twenty-nine home games, a season-opening trip to San Diego and matchups against perennial powers Auburn, Kentucky, Ohio State and Tennessee highlight Morehead State’s 2015 baseball schedule.

Live audio of each game is scheduled to be on MSUEagles.com with Michael Gustin providing the play-by-play for his third season. Select home games are also slated to be webcast on the Ohio Valley Conference Digital Network. Check MSUEagles.com soon for the full schedule.

“Our schedule will be very challenging early with six of our first 15 games on the road against teams with traditionally very strong RPIs,” Head Coach Mike McGuire said. “We want to compete nationally, and you can’t do that if you aren’t willing to go on the road and play some of the big boys.”

The Eagles open with a four-game series at San Diego (Feb. 13-15). MSU will play single games at Kentucky (Feb. 25), Tennessee (March 4) and Auburn (May 12), plus a pair of single games at Ohio State (April 21-22). MSU defeated No. 12 Kentucky last season and knocked off No. 23 Indiana five days later.

“Our trips at San Diego, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio State and Auburn will provide that opportunity to compete nationally,” McGuire said.

The non-conference home schedules features two or three-game series against Bowling Green (Feb. 20-22), Coppin State (Feb. 27-March 1), La Salle (April 3-4), Alabama A&M (April 7-8) and single games versus Ohio (March 10), East Tennessee State (March 17) and Northern Kentucky (April 29).

Morehead State is set to host three-game league series against Southeast Missouri (March 13-15), Eastern Kentucky (March 27-29), SIU Edwardsville (April 17-19), Eastern Illinois (May 1-3) and Murray State (May 14-16).

“After playing almost two-thirds of our schedule on the road in my first two seasons at Morehead State, it will be nice to have more balance to our schedule and play about half our games at home,” McGuire added.

Non-conference road opponents include Marshall (March 18), Northern Kentucky (March 24) and ETSU (March 31). Morehead State will also play a mid-week “non-conference” game at Eastern Kentucky on April 15.

The Eagles will participate in OVC series at Tennessee Tech (March 6-8), Belmont (March 20-22), UT Martin (April 10-12), Austin Peay (April 24-26) and defending tournament champion Jacksonville State (May 8-10).

“I expect the OVC to be very competitive once again this year,” McGuire said. “We have a lot of guys returning who have been in those conference battles before, and we are excited about the upcoming year.”

The OVC Tournament, featuring the top six teams, will be held May 20-24 at the Ballpark at Jackson (Tenn.).

Dates and time are subject to change due to inclement weather or other circumstances. For the latest schedules, check MSUEagles.com, Twitter.com/MSUAthletics or Facebook.com/MSUEagles.

Morehead State finished 29-28 overall in 2014 and set a school record with 16 OVC victories. The 2015 roster features 21 returnees, including 11 seniors.
