BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU continues play in the 2014 NIT Season Tip-Off Tuesday night at 6:00 (CT) at Stony Brook on New York’s Long Island.
The Hilltoppers are coming off a heartbreaking one-point loss to Belmont Saturday night, and WKU dropped its first game in the NIT Season Tip-Off last week at Minnesota.
Following the game against Stony Brook, WKU heads to Manhattan where it will play Saint Joseph’s at Madison Square Garden Thanksgiving night at 5:00 (CT) on ESPNU.
Stony Brook advanced to the first round of the College Basketball Invitational last season and finished with a 23-11 record and a 13-3 mark in the America East Conference, which was good for second place. The Seawolves were picked to win the America East this season in the preseason coaches poll, despite not having a senior on the roster, and have advanced to four-straight postseasons.
WKU has only played one other game in its history against a current member of the America East, a 83-52 win over New Hampshire on Dec. 4, 1981, and current WKU assistant coach Lawrence Brenneman spent eight seasons at conference member Binghamton from 2001-08 before coming to WKU prior to the 2008-09 season.
