PIKEVILLE, Ky. — University of Pikeville freshman Donald Styles is the Mid-South Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Styles, a graduate of Louisville Central High School, finished with a team-high 11 tackles and added an interception in the Bears’ 41-31 win at Belhaven (Miss.) on Saturday to claim the weekly honor.
The linebacker returned his first career interception 44 yards to the 2-yard line to set up a UPIKE score. Of his 11 tackles, Styles posted 1-1/2 for a loss to help the Bears to a second straight win.
Styles is third on UPIKE’s team with 54 tackles this season. He is tied for the team high with 6-1/2 tackles for a loss.
UPIKE improved to 4-6 overall with the win and 3-2 in MSC East Division play. The Bears travel to Union for their season finale on Saturday.
