BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball head coach Ray Harper announced Wednesday the signings of Fredrick Edmond, Marlon Hunter and Chris McNeal to National Letters of Intent to suit up for the Hilltoppers in 2015-16.
Hunter (G, 6-2, Memphis, Tenn.) and McNeal (G, 5-11, Jackson, Tenn.) will be freshmen for WKU in 2015-16 and have four years of eligibility remaining. Edmond (G, 6-3, Lansing, Mich.) will be a junior with two years of eligibility remaining.
Fredrick Edmond
Edmond currently plays at the College of Southern Idaho, where he averaged a team-high 18 points and 6.2 rebounds per game as a freshman in 2013-14. He was named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) second-team All-American after the season and helped the Golden Eagles to a 27-5 record.
Before arriving at CSI, Edmond led Eastern High School in Lansing, Mich., to a conference championship as a senior, where he was the state’s leading scorer and a first-team all-state honoree. Edmond then attended Kingdom Prep in Iowa, where he also led the team in scoring.

“Fredrick is a special player and can be a difference-maker. He is a guy who could put the uniform on and get 20 points any given night, and he could do it a lot of different ways. He is physical, and he finishes with contact as well as anyone I have ever coached. He is extremely tough to guard, and he poses many different challenges for a defense.”
Marlon Hunter
Hunter attends Houston High School in Memphis, Tenn., where he averaged 24 points, eight rebounds, four steals and four assists per game as a junior in 2013-14. Hunter plays for the Arkansas Wings Elite on the prestigious Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) travel circuit, and he led all league players in steals in the summer of 2014.
Hunter is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, and 247Sports.com lists him as the No. 72 shooting guard nationally and the No. 8 senior in the state of Tennessee. Hunter chose WKU over offers from East Carolina, South Alabama, UALR and UMass, among others.

“Marlon is very well-rounded and can do a lot of different things. He led a very challenging summer league in steals, and he really gets after it on the defensive end. He has a tremendous basketball IQ and a real feel for the game. He shows a lot of promise at the two-guard position.”
Chris McNeal
McNeal is a senior at South Side High School in Jackson, Tenn., where he contributed 19.3 points, four rebounds and four assists per contest as a junior in 2013-14 and helped South Side to a Class AA state championship. McNeal chose WKU over offers from Cleveland State, Middle Tennessee and UMass, among others.
McNeal is rated as a three-star recruit by Scout.com.

“Chris is very explosive and sees the floor very well. He is a great passer and can score, and he can break people down off the dribble. If I had to compare him with someone who played at WKU, I would say his game is similar to Tyrone Brazelton’s.”
The early signing period runs until Nov. 19. The regular signing period extends from April 15-May 20.
