RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University’s men’s basketball team will play its only exhibition game on Friday against Urbana University. Tip-off at McBrayer Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Only two starters return from last season’s Eastern team that finished 24-10 overall. The exhibition game will give fans their first chance to see who may fill those three open spots in the starting line-up.

The Colonels are coming off a season in which they won the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament and put a scare into No. 2 seed Kansas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Friday’s game will be a reunion of sorts for EKU Head Coach Jeff Neubauer and Urbana Head Coach Rob Summers. Summers played at West Virginia while Neubauer was an assistant coach there. This will be the first time Neubauer has faced a former player as a head coach.

Eastern Kentucky got a head start on the 2014-15 season by taking a four-game summer tour of Australia. During those games, EKU had 29 more steals, committed 37 fewer turnovers and out-scored its opponents by 29 points off turnovers.

Senior Corey Walden, a preseason All-OVC pick, averaged 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals during the Australia trip. Senior Timmy Knipp was the team’s second leading scorer down under, averaging 16 points per game while shooting 51 percent from the field. Jaylen Babb-Harrison, who redshirted last season and played in only nine games as a freshman in 2012-13, contributed 14 points and five rebounds per game.
