PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Aaron Jackson was named the Mid-South Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week after catching six passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns in the University of Pikeville’s 37-26 loss to No. 6 Georgetown over the weekend.

Jackson joins Justin Wade from Lindsey Wilson as the defensive player of the week and Mike Self from Cumberlands as the league’s top performer on special teams. It is the first player of the week honor for a UPIKE player since Nu’Keese Richardson earned the special teams award on Nov. 18 last season.

The Frankfort, Ky., sophomore receiver scored two of his touchdowns on back-to-back series in the first quarter of 42 and 61 yards to help Pikeville take a 14-6 lead. Jackson’s 172 yards are the fourth most in program history for a single game, while his three touchdowns tied the school record.

Jackson is third in the MSC in receiving yards (622) and receiving yards per game (88.9). His seven touchdowns are tied for third in the conference. He ranks 22nd in the NAIA in receiving yards per game and 27th in total receiving yards.

The Bears (2-6, 2-2 MSC East) host Kentucky Christian on Saturday in the regular-season home finale at the Hambley Athletic Complex.
