BARDSTOWN, Ky. – The University of Pikeville men’s golf team moved up one spot from its day-one finish at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament, ending up in a tie for fifth place on Tuesday at the Bardstown Country Club’s Maywood Course.
Both the Bears and Georgetown finished with 639 total strokes to lock up in fifth place as Lindsey Wilson claimed the team title with a 610, Cumberlands was seconds at 611 and Emmanuel (Ga.) rounded out the top three after carding a 618.
UPIKE followed up its 325 score on day one by shedding 11 strokes for a 314 on Tuesday. All four Bears in the lineup lowered their scores in the second round, while Will Boyd withdrew from play before finishing.
Casey Castle tied for 19th place overall with a score of 157 (79-78) and Burgess Clark was just two strokes behind, firing a 159 (83-76) to finish in a tie for 25th place. Tyler Smith tied for 37th with a 165 (85-80) and Drew Rothenstine cut his first-round total by eight strokes to finish with a 168 (88-80).
Lindsey Wilson’s Oliver Cowl won the individual title with a 147 (72-75), leading a group of three Blue Raiders with top-10 finishes.
The fall season is now complete as UPIKE will take a winter break before starting play next semester. The spring portion on its schedule will be released soon.
