BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the third time this season, running back Dy’Shawn Mobley was named the adidas OVC Newcomer of the Week following his performance in the Eastern Kentucky University football team’s 33-21 win over Southeast Missouri on Saturday.
Mobley rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns to help the Colonels improve to 7-1 overall. The native of Powell, Tennessee scored on a one-yard run at the end of the first quarter, a nine-yard run early in the second quarter and added a 13-yard score with 2:21 to play to secure the victory.
The junior has now reached 100 yards rushing six times this season, including three straight games. Mobley currently ranks 11th nationally (FCS) in rushing touchdowns (11) and 15th in rushing (115.3 yards per game.)
The other OVC weekly award winners were Eastern Illinois running back Shepard Little (Offensive), Eastern Illinois defensive back Anthony Goodman (Defensive) and Jacksonville State punter Hamish MacInnes (Specialist).
Eastern Kentucky (7-1, 4-1 OVC) goes back on the road next Saturday, Nov. 1 for a game at Tennessee State. The game will be televised by ESPN3 beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
