MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State will host four celebration events to kick-off the school year and recognize its Eagle Sports Network radio affiliates. The ESN, which broadcasts all football, men’s and women’s basketball games, has four returning and three new affiliates in 2014-15. The combination will provide radio coverage to MSU sports fans within a 100-mile radius of Morehead.
“We sincerely appreciate all of our broadcast partners,” Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs Brad Smith said. “We have several stations and individuals who have been longtime supporters of Morehead State Athletics, while we have many others who are eager to help us moving forward.”
WIVY-96.3 FM (Morehead), the network’s flagship station, will continue to carry every contest in all three sports. Two other Gateway Radio stations, WMST-106.9 FM/1150 AM (Mt. Sterling), will continue to air every football game, along with select men’s and women’s basketball tilts.
WLGC-1520 AM (Ashland/Greenup) will continue to carry select contests, while WSIP-98.9 FM (Paintsville), WKYH-600 AM (Paintsville) and WCBJ-103.7 (Campton) have recently joined the network. IMC FOXY 21 (Prestonsburg/Pikeville) will also televise select home football games.
Morehead State’s development office and athletic department will host the celebration events on Aug. 26 (Mt. Sterling), Aug. 27 (Paintsville), Sept. 2 (Greenup/Ashland) and Sept. 3 (Prestonsburg). Coaches, university employees and spirit squad members will be on hand each time.
Each celebration event will run from 11 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m. ET. Anyone with an interest in Morehead State University is welcome. Food and drinks will also be available. Details on each location, including their street addresses, are available in a box to the right of this release.
“We met with all of these stations over the summer and the response was terrific,” Smith said. “I think that shows the overall interest in Morehead State Athletics. In addition to blanketing Eastern Kentucky, we will now have coverage across state lines in Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia.”
Chuck Mraz is the lead broadcaster for Morehead State football and men’s basketball. Jason Blanton calls the play-by-play for women’s hoops, while serving as an analyst for all football and select men’s basketball games. Michael Gustin is in his first year as the football sideline reporter.
In addition to play-by-play, analysis, notes, figures, in-game statistics and halftime features, each broadcast will include pre- and post-game interviews with Head Football Coach Rob Tenyer, Head Men’s Basketball Coach Sean Woods and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Greg Todd.
