MOREHEAD, Ky. — With fall sports beginning in less than three weeks, Morehead State has finalized its plans to “Paint the Town Blue and Gold” on Saturday, Aug. 16. The event is slated to run from 10 a.m. ET until approximately 2 p.m.

Student-athletes and coaches from the Morehead State football, volleyball, soccer, cheer and dance teams will be delivering schedule posters, schedule cards and ticket information to local businesses during the first-ever event.

“This event is a great way to kick off the 2014-15 school year,” Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs Brad Smith said. “We’re excited about the upcoming year because we have several teams that should be very competitive.”

Morehead State Athletics is also asking local businesses to support the Eagles in the following ways:

>>> Have employees wear Morehead State apparel or blue and gold on Fridays and Saturday of home football weekends (Sept. 5-6, Oct. 3-4, 10-11, 24-25 and Nov. 14-15).

>>> Place “Go Eagles, beat (insert the opponent)” on business marquees the week leading up to home football games.

>>> Display schedule posters, schedule cards and ticket information for all MSU athletic teams.

>>> Decorate businesses in Morehead State blue and gold throughout the school year.

“Our student-athletes and coaches are excited about this event,” Smith added. “We are looking forward to seeing lots of Eagle fans on Aug. 16 and throughout the school year. When our athletic teams have success, it’s a win-win for the university and community.”

Morehead State soccer opens its campaign with road matches on Aug. 22, 24, 29 and 31. The Eagles will take on Appalachian State in their home opener on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.

Morehead State volleyball begins its regular season on Aug. 29-30 at Wetherby Gym. Radford and Northern Kentucky will join MSU in the two-day Eagle Challenge.

Morehead State football opens its regular season on Aug. 30 at Richmond. The Eagles will square off with Pikeville (Ky.) in their home opener on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m.

The MSU home football opener, which falls on Family Weekend, is being dubbed as a “Black Out.” Fans can purchase a “Lights Out” t-shirt and ticket to the game for just $10. Click here for information on the 29 local businesses that are participating in this year’s program.
