MOREHEAD, Ky. — Miguel Dicent, a 6-foot-3 guard from the Dominican Republic, has signed an athletic scholarship agreement with the Morehead State men’s basketball program. He has four years of college eligibility.
A native of Santo Domingo, Dicent most recently played at the Canarias Basketball Academy in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain.
“We are excited to have Miguel join our program,” Head Coach Sean Woods said. “He is a versatile young man who adds depth to our point guard and shooting guard positions. Miguel fits our system well and has a terrific feel for the game.”
Dicent played for the Dominican National Team in the 2011 U17 FIBA Americas Tournament, where he led the team in assists (3.8) and finished third in scoring (12.8). He drilled 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point land.
“Miguel is long, athletic and runs the floor well,” Woods added. “He has four years of college eligibility and certainly has potential to be a factor at the Division I level.”
Morehead State is coming off a 20-win campaign for the fourth time in the past six years. The Eagles also earned a spot in the 2014 College Basketball Invitational, which marked their fourth postseason berth in six seasons and ninth in school history.
