MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State football seniors Michael Jackson and Joshua Brunner and junior Alex Hey have been named Preseason All-Americans by USA College Football. Jackson and Brunner were listed on the third-team, while Hey is an honorable mention choice.
Jackson, a defensive back from Cincinnati, ranked third on the team with 72 tackles, including 45 solos, in 2013. He also registered four tackles for loss, seven pass break-ups and three interceptions.
Brunner, an offensive lineman from Pittsburgh, and Hey, an offensive lineman from Bryan, Ohio, blocked for a unit that averaged 240 passing yards and 369 total yards. Morehead State allowed just 1.6 sacks per game, which ranked third in the Pioneer Football League.
All three student-athletes were named to the official Honorable Mention All-PFL list last year. Bruner was also tabbed Second-Team All-PFL by College Sports Madness, while Jackson was named third-team by the same media organization.
The USA College Football All-Americans are selected by members of media organizations (Metropolitan New York Football Writers Association, New England Football Writers Association, Philadelphia Football Writers and the Football Writers of America Association, Lindy’s Sports Annuals, Athlon Sports, Phil Steele’s, The Sports Network and USA Football News). College head coaches and sports information directors also vote.
