MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State senior Brandon Bornhauser has been named to the College Football Performance Awards Kickoff Returner Watch List.
A Cincinnati native, Bornhauser averaged 26.7 yards on 22 kick returns and 7.8 yards on 14 punt returns in 2013. He piled up 144 yards in kickoff returns against Dayton last year, including a season-long 64-yard outburst. He also had 37 carries for 163 yards and seven touchdowns, plus 16 catches for 138 yards and two scores.
“Congratulations to Brandon on earning a spot on this year’s watch list,” CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith said. “Bornhauser will be one of the top Pioneer Football League players to watch in 2014.”
The initial watch list includes 40 returning performers, vying for the top kickoff returner award in the Football Championship Subdivision. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions.
CFPA is now entering its seventh season of recognition. The CFPA’s player and team performance index, employed since 2008, ranks success across all three phases of the game.
Morehead State opens the 2014 season on Aug. 30 at Colonial Athletic Association member Richmond. The home opener is Sept. 6 versus Pikeville (Ky.) at 6 p.m. ET.
