UPIKE Softball’s Adams and Kinney Named NAIA Scholar-Athletes

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – University of Pikeville junior softball student-athletes Brittany Adams and Sarah Kinney were named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, officials from the national office announced on Wednesday

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved at least junior academic status.

Pikeville has placed two players on the scholar-athlete list for the last seven seasons.

Kinney played in 22 games this season, including 24 starts, while putting together a .190 batting average with a home run, eight RBIs, three doubles and a triple.

Including all NAIA institutions, 297 softball student-athletes received the scholar-athlete honor this season.
