PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The 2014-15 University of Pikeville men’s basketball team will definitely be battle tested when it reaches conference play after scheduling exhibition contests with Kentucky and Tennessee in November.
The Bears and Wildcats will meet for the third time in exhibition play on Sunday, Nov. 2, followed by a trip to Knoxville, Tenn., the next day to face the Volunteers.
UPIKE lost in its previous two trips to Lexington as Kentucky won the most recent matchup 97-66 at the start of the 2010-11 season. The Bears went on to capture the 2011 NAIA National Championship. UK also tallied a 99-64 win against the Bears prior to the 2007-08 season.
Kentucky is coming off a trip to the NCAA Final Four where it finished as the national runner-up to UConn. The Wildcats return Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison and Dakari Johnson who were key contributors to that postseason run.
Tennessee enters 2014-15 after posting a 24-13 overall record and advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament where it lost to Michigan 73-71. The Vols recently hired Donnie Tyndall as its next head coach after previous stints at Morehead State and Southern Mississippi.
Details including game times and ticket availability have not been released. When that information becomes available it will be posted at UPIKEBears.com and announced on Twitter @UPIKEAthletics.
